I envisioned this book as a modernization of 1984. The story certainly has elements of that classic, but it is very much its own story and plot. The characters are interesting, and the plot moves smoothly. The book brings up important issues regarding the rights of private citizens in this modern digital world. The book's ending felt abrupt without really resolving anything, but I can see how the author might have done this intentionally to get readers thinking more. I did find myself very frustrated with the characters and whom they chose to trust/distrust. Considering that they are all meant to be brilliant individuals, it would have been nice to see a little more reflection from them on who they trusted and why (or possibly more background information to support that trust).
