The new CD from RAVAGE sounds like it could have been recorded in 1988. The album is filled with great harmonies and catchy riffs. The vocals will take a bit to get used to in the same way bands like Raven, Saxon & Nasty Savage were. The vocals range from high pitched with a slight nasal sound to them (which certainly makes them sound more unique) to a more straight forward speed metal approach. The album sounds as though it is influenced by the NWOBHM scene as well as the 80's speed metal scene (Running Wild, Raven, Lizzy Borden). The album flows nicely with all the songs having a good memorable chorus. The guitar solos are excellent and a big highlight of the album (see the solos in Freedom Fighter). The artwork is of course done by legendary artist Ed Repka (Megadeth) which is a bit cheesy but as a fan of 80's speed metal, I love it. Definitely a good pick up while in my local store - I felt like a kid again as the artwork is what got me to buy it like in the 80's without hearing any of it first. I look forward to hearing more from these guys. Buy it!
