It was a great change from the cookie-cutter romances I tend to gobble. Dialogue between Eden & Chase was natural, and on a deeper level. Eden wasn't an inexperienced damsel in distress. She was mouthy with a witty edge. This story is told from Eden's POV only. Make sense, this is Eden's journey. Chase wasn't the shiny star. He earns kudos for being that sexy supportive wilderness guy. Although a glimpse into that hunk of a brain would've been taken this story to another level. This book nails intimacy, the importance of connection, and trust when a person is healing. The schmexy-time scenes weren't very steamy, but lovely nonetheless. This book teases you with a slow burn, and beautifully written intimate moments. However, you won't find the glorious face blushing adjectives you find in most contemporary romance. Nevertheless, the main schmexy scene was written beautifully, although a bit short lived.Ultimately my 5 review is based on how beautifully the author represented trauma & healing. I feel like a trigger warning is necessary for this book. The author touched on sensitive issues, showed the rawness of healing, importance of support, and the heartbreaking realness of healthy boundaries. I'm still mind blown. I look forward to whatever Author Hannah Bird writes.Highly recommend, check this out!
