A real-life thriller about memory loss, arms dealing, and fathers and sons from million copy selling, prize-winning author, Alan Gibbons.'He was here again last night, the man with the dead eyes. He was in my room and in my head.'There are not many things Nick Mallory knows for sure. He knows there was a car crash. He knows he is in hospital. And he knows he feels furious with his father. What he doesn't know is why. As his memories start to return, Nick finds himself caught in a net of secrets and lies - where truth and perception collide and heroes and villains are not easy to tell apart.

End Game focuses on Nick, a teenager who was in a car accident and spends a lot of time in hospital wondering why on Earth he felt the need to run out his house, get in a car and drive off. His memories piece together a family about to be torn apart by politics, good intentions and bad consequences. Though Nick is the protagonist, the most interesting characters are the women in his life. Their intuition, on top of Nick's broken memories, add to the thriller. Dialogue can occasionally be clunky, however, I can see how this is necessary for plot purposes and it was only when I read it a second time that it slightly annoyed me. Also, towards the end you can tell what direction the novel is going to go in. The ending is more about how rather than why, but this does not make it boring. The book can easily be read in one sitting. I found End Game to be a quick thriller with a nice dose of family conflict with a well rounded ending.
