Symphonic metal band Eleine sounds like early Evanescence on steroids. The following descriptions come to mind: moody, minor key, sometimes mysterious, definitely metal, with excellent vocals, sometimes sounding slightly middle eastern, and always tuneful and engaging. This CD is an excellent addition to my collection which includes music by Nightwish, Xandria, Epica, Sirenia, Tristania, Within Temptation, Therion, Evanescence, The Sins of Thy Beloved, Theater of Tragedy, After Forever, Ignea, and the first (and best) album by Nemesea. Much of the music of the afore-mentioned bands (most especially Eleine) has a beautiful (and no band wants to use this term any more) “Gothic” symphonic metal sound that I enjoy greatly, and Eleine epitomizes that sound and genre completely. But don’t pigeon-hole them with that term “Gothic”....they’re a great metal band with excellent vocals and musicianship. Awesome work, guys and gal of Eleine!
