This is a great book to have on hand as a reference work for embracing a whole grain/ vegetable-based diet. However, of great importance is the chapter that explains in detail how to administer and benefit from the ginger compress. Mr. Bursell mentions in this chapter his gratitude to whoever devised the ginger compress and indeed, we owe that person many thanks. Bursell also talks at length about yin-yang theory, facial diagnosis, proper dietary habits and how to take care of yourself. He gives us a healthy dose of the blatant nonsense we have to deal with at times in the medical establishment world, and most of what he comments on resonates for me and is very spot-on. For instance, there are many simple techniques we can do for ourselves at home if we follow the advice given in this book. Bursell adds spiritual philosophy gleaned from Rudolf Steiner, one of the world's great thinkers, and someone society has basically forgotten all these many years. I have this book on my Kindle Reader and readily refer to it when needed. It is an important work, highly recommended.I admire Kaare Bursell's ideas about disease, healing and illness and ability of body to balance itself. He is a strong advocate of macrobiotic living. Very interesting book if you have concerns about your own health and healing. This is an essential read for anyone who desires a truly healthy life based on freedom from the medical establishment. There is no better book for understanding what illness really signifies, and how to stimulate your body's innate ability to heal. The modern human being has lost touch with the feeling that each of us belongs here, that we have a rich destiny to play out. The tools within these pages will unlock your potential to do just that. If you're interested in supporting the planet and all her riches, putting The End of Medicine to work in your life is the most powerful form of activism you'll find! This book has become my favorite friend. It speaks to me each time I pick it up with wisdom, clarity and compassion. I would recommend it to life long student of ying, yang as well as a new student like myself. It has changed my life, my thinking and my spirit to one of gratitude for the sacred ideas I have adopted. I honor what I have learned and follow the universal laws with supreme discipline and acceptance. This is posted on behalf of IngridThis is a true macrobiotic classic. If you are interested in healing yourself, this is the book for you! This book is an essential reference for taking personal freedom into your own hands. Kaare's wisdom, stemming from almost 30 years of study and experience, is challenging and thought-provoking. The coming era is said to be rough and demands a special flexibility in thinking and living. This book is the first step in educating oneself as to what a human being really is, and how s/he can relate to illness in a more honest way. Enjoy! And do your ginger compresses!Complete quackery.
